My opinions (available) on the Internet.

Hi, I'm Rik. IT specialist. Linux enthousiast. Hacker. And not a cracker. Using DevOps. MSc. Dutch. Human.

Why a single-page static website?

...and not use the latest JavaScript/TypeScript/PHP/Python/Ruby/Perl/ASP.NET/Java/Go/Rust/LOLCODE/Brainfuck web framework or static code generator? Well, I'd like to adhere to the shared 'KISS' philosophy of the following people:

  • "We may assume the superiority [when other things being equal] of the demonstration which derives from fewer postulates or hypotheses", Aristotle (384–322 BC)
  • Occam's razor, William of Ockham (1287–1347)
  • "Brevity is the soul of wit", William Shakespeare (1599–1601)
  • "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication", Clare Boothe Luce Does not seems to have been a direct quote from Leonardo da Vinci. (1931)
  • "Playing football is very simple but playing simple football is the hardest thing there is", Johan Cruyff (1947–2016)
  • On maintaining proper time management, H. Rhodes (1985)
  • On maximizing agile software development, B. O'Reilly (early 1990s)

Why not simply use Neocities or GitHub Pages?

"Ginny!" said Mr. Weasley, flabbergasted. "Haven't I taught you anything? What have I always told you? Never trust anything that can think for itself if you can't see where it keeps its brain."
—J. K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (1998)

Well, that's why, but also things like:
